HMS PROTECTOR ASSOCIATION CLASSES OF MEMBERSHIP AVAILABLE "Full membership" of this great and growing Association is open to any ex-serving member of her ships company from 1938 to 1968. From 1955 through to her decommissioning in 1968 HMS Protector served as an Ice Patrol Ship, and as the name implies, as the Falkland Islands and Dependencies protection vessel. Membership is open to all naval personal that were members of the ships company during any of her commission years together with our Royal Marine compatriots who both served aboard and ashore as the local security force.
"Associate Membership" is offered to immediate family of full members who have crossed the bar. (Application forms are dispatched as required). "Friend of the Ship" membership is available to any civilian or ex-service personnel who is either related to or just good friends with a full member. It is a requirement that a full member of the Association must propose and undersign any person seeking this type of membership and the full membership fee paid.
